Sam Chandler, The Peaceful Presence Project
Sam is an NEDA Proficient End of Life Doula, having completed his training through The Peaceful Presence Project in 2021, and also serves the Central Oregon community as a hospice volunteer and certified Reiki practitioner.
Sam sat vigil with his grandmother during her final days and was deeply moved by the subtle yet unmistakable ways she communicated with him, even from within a comatose state. Those quiet, sacred moments revealed to him the profound importance of simply being present at the threshold. It was a reminder that presence is its own form of medicine, speaking to something far deeper than the physical. It affirmed his understanding that accompanying another through the end of life transition is among the greatest gifts we can offer.
His time as an End of Life Doula and hospice volunteer has been his most meaningful contribution to humanity, and he hopes to further his path within hospice and palliative care to help others during these sacred times, echoing the timeless words of Ram Dass: “We’re all just walking each other home.”
