MSW, LCSW, NEDA-Proficient End-of-life Doula
A career social worker, I spent many years in hospital and hospice social work before turning to serve those struggling economically in my former community. Now retired, I feel grateful to be a volunteer end-of-life doula after being a member of the Peaceful Presence Project’s first training class.
Although formal education and experience inform my practice, it has been the personal end-of-life experiences and deaths of my niece, parents and a wonderful hospice co-worker (to suicide) that stoke my passion for serving our community.
As a doula, I feel like I have “come home” to the values and ability for presence this role brings to a most intimate life passage and family experience. While serving people from all walks of life, I look forward to opportunities to be there for disenfranchised persons so that services are available to all and no one goes through end-of-life alone.
