Elizabeth Johnson, The Peaceful Presence Project

I’m an end-of-life doula and the Co-Founder and Executive Director of The Peaceful Presence Project, serving individuals and families across Oregon, with a focus on rural and underserved communities.
My background is in community planning and public health–informed end-of-life care. My path into this work began years ago through global education and volunteer experiences, including time at a community hospice in Kolkata, India, which deeply shaped my understanding of grief, dying, and compassionate presence.
I’m trained in grief, advance care planning, and bedside presence, including studies through Upaya Zen Center, and I’m passionate about helping people feel supported, informed, and less alone during serious illness and at the end of life.
I care deeply about building death-literate communities and creating space for honest, human conversations about dying, loss, and what matters most.
